New 'Free' car rental service launched on US West Coast

Why not get your car hire company to pay you to hire a car! Unbelievably this is a genuine offer with hundreds of deals on offer at any one time.

A new one car hire service has been launched in the US, offering car rental companies the opportunity to relocate their cars at low cost, whilst also allowing renters to hire cars at quite astonishing rates.

Transfercarus.com were originally established in New Zealand, but have now spread their wings abroad.

Its a quirk of the rental market that many one rentals are in mainly one direction on common routes - so more travellers opt to go from San Francisco to Las Vegas rather than vice versa. Car hire firms slowly build up stock in the wrong place and need to return the cars to the high demand locations.

In the past they would have paid someone to do this for them, but recently more firms have moved into this market, renting out cars either free or for a dollar or two a day (often throwing in a tank full of fuel, toll fees or even few days rental) to car hirers happy to plan their trip around available cars.

One point to watch though is insurance - normally this is excluded on car rentals but included on motorhome hires (do check the exact details with your rental firm as basic insurance is often provided at a far lower lever in the States than in the UK and Europe). You may however be able to use a standalone Collision Damage Waiver and Supplementary Liability Insurance on cars. Visit the moneymaxim car hire insurance service for to find a range of policies, but before buying check with Transfercar or their partners that they will be happy to accept them.

One of the offers on their site today is for two days hire from Los Angeles International Airport to San Francisco at no charge. A GPS Sat Nav and up to $50 towards fuel costs are included making it a great way to see America with a strain on your wallet.
